It’s just the beginning for Amy…

custom4Continuing our series looking at up-and-coming interior designers, we speak to Amy March, who has joined forces with her mum to start their own label creating handmade bespoke furniture based around a vintage upcycling approach…

The mother-daughter duo, based in Nottingham, set up their own studio to work on a diverse range of projects.

While Amy and Patricia work together on their own projects, due to their expansive knowledge in many different areas of design, they often work on separate pieces.

Amy adds: “While I specialise in woodwork, my mum’s expertise is in upholstery and sewing. Our designs are based around upcycling, with every piece being handmade by us. We aim to either create something using traditional methods or by drawing on the historical influence of the materials.

Furniture Designer Amy March Design

photo 1
Amy March graduated from Nottingham Trent University this year with a Furniture and Product design degree & has since founded her own business; Amy March Design.

‘I graduated this year from Nottingham Trent University after studying Furniture and Product design for four years. My third year was spent in Industry working at Games Workshop, which was the most fun designing I’ve had by far. I find Emotional design is within many modern products and is one of the main parts of design work I enjoy.

Products that connect on an emotional level with the user are items that we just never throw away. Recycling the history behind old materials and telling their story to new people is another element I particularly enjoy doing.

Amy March Design is all about Hand crafted products, some will be created from reclaimed materials, some will be created from very traditional methods of manufacture- all are designed to tell a story that the user will want to tell others. These items are unique and collectable, for no two will ever be the same.’
